As we are approaching the holiday season, most people are starting to have ideas about travelling; however, over the last several years, the cost of travelling has risen significantly.

This creates several different questions: What can people do to travel safely and cost-effectively?  And what are the best kinds of travelling that are not always considered?

Over the last couple of years, it has become increasingly common for older people to interrail.

According to data from Silver Magazine, it stated: “The Interrailing for the Older Crowd group on Facebook has more than 5,000 members, indicating a significant number of older people engaging in Interrailing activities.”

The most likely reason is the cost of travel and its many inconveniences. So, what makes interrailing more convenient for elderly people?

The reasons that stand out the most are comfortable accommodation – Interrail offers a variety of different options ranging from budget hotels to luxury hotels – and another great reason for people to travel with Interrail is that interrailing offers a more relaxed pace, and this can be massively beneficial for people who have health issues relating to mobility.

The prices of the tickets are something that also have to be considered; the price of the ticket depends on how long you plan to go.

According to Interrail, they stated: “The Interrail Global Pass is available for various durations, with prices starting from around £154 for a 4-day pass.”

Another enticement for older people to Interrail is that they get 10 per cent off their ticket, meaning that they can have 4 days travelling around Europe for £139.40, meaning they could go from London to Serbia 2 and a half times.

The price is not the only thing that has to be considered; it is becoming clearer to people that not only young people struggle with their mental health, but older people also struggle with it.

Travelling can help make one feel better and using online groups such as the ones on Facebook can bring people together.

Another positive effect of travelling is that it gives people new experiences, as it is sometimes believed that when you reach old age. The possibility of making new experiences has vanished, but that isn't the case.
