The Harsh 'Reality' of The Housewives

The Real Housewives of London reunion episode was full of drama, arguments and over-the-top moments that kept viewers watching. But behind all the excitement and glam, the way that the cast acts can be misleading for the audience, especially a younger audience.
People are portrayed in an unrealistic way that doesn’t show real life or genuine relationships. It can give viewers the wrong idea about how to treat each other and what is important in life. This season of The Real Housewives of London has been entertaining. However, we must also acknowledge that it’s not “reality” ironically.
Amanda Cronin and Juliet Angus’s behaviour at the reunion was surprising (or was it) and it was at times difficult to watch. What started out as small disagreements quickly turned into aggressive arguments and personal attacks with both refusing to back down. Cronin at one point called Angus a “parasite” with Angus replying, “dumb f**k”.
The host, Catherine Ryan was trying to defuse the situation which led to producers having to involve themselves not even 10 minutes into the reunion. This has never happened before in “housewives” history which had viewers of the show on the edge of their seats.

Both Cronin and Angus seemed to be more focused on proving a point and embarrassing each other. Their constant interruptions and harsh comments made the whole situation feel tense and uncomfortable. Showing how easily drama can take over when emotions are high on “reality” shows such as this.
Using the word “reality” for these shows is misleading because it’s simply not reality. Any average person can understand that cast members of these shows are being paid six or seven figures to cause chaos for entertainment purposes. Everything is dramatised, from their outfits to the words coming out their mouths. That is their job.
In my opinion, I do find these shows entertaining. However, I feel like regulations must be enforced and consequences should be given to cast members who go too far to get their five minutes of fame. Since the Real Housewives of London is a new show, I felt like all the women were trying too hard to create a memorable scene even if it impacts their image.
