The Halloween event Glasghost, held in the SEC last weekend drew more than just crowds of visitors. The event has caused outrage among parents who attended the event.
Messiah, an attendee of the event took to TikTok to vent about his experience, he said: “85 quid for a family of four, we were in and out in half an hour. Utterly shocking.”
Glasghost hosted by Fan Frontier Events charged £25 for an adult ticket and around £16 for a children’s ticket, while children under three could attend for free. The Halloween event promised visitors experiences such as a ghost train, laser tag, a silent disco, a kid only zone and Harry Potter themed attractions.
The Harry Potter Experience was just one of the disappointing parts of this event
However, parents who visited the event in hopes of getting their children into the Halloween spirit, had a very different experience than the one promised.
Parents claimed that the silent disco only played one song on repeat, Michael Jackson’s Thriller. They also stated that the long queues for experiences such as laser tag had underwhelming ends when they faced “black sheets strung up on a washing line.”
The backlash from this event has left parents comparing it to the infamous Glasgow Willy Wonka experience, which left young children in tears.
Mum, Elaine Wylie posted a video to TikTok to warn people about the Halloween event. Wylie used the caption to convey her frustration, she said: “What an absolute shambles this was! Willy Wonka disaster all over again.”

One user sharing Wylie’s outrage commented: “I have requested a refund; it was so bad.”
Another user said: “Why has Glasgow became the epicentre of bad events.”
Fan Frontier, who were the organisers of this event have responded to the criticism. They said: “We experienced some operational challenges during the initial opening of the event on Friday. However, a number of these issues were addressed that same evening and fully resolved by the following day.
“Launching new large-scale events inevitably brings some early challenges, especially when working with a range of third-party partners providing rides and attractions.
"We're actively reviewing and responding to all feedback - positive and negative - with those customers and suppliers to make sure lessons are applied. While we recognise not everything went perfectly, most guests enjoyed the event across the weekend and shared great feedback about the atmosphere, activities and team on site.”
