Fans are being treated to an intimate tour from Robbie Williams to promote his new album, Britpop.
This was kicked off in Glasgow last night, with the venue buzzing with atmosphere from 2 am the day before, as eager fans braved the cold to queue for the show.
It opened with Reverend & The Makers as the support act, who set the vibe for the night ahead. Their raw lyrics and banter managed to hype up the crowd and create an upbeat atmosphere.
Once they were ready for a night of entertainment, Williams stepped on stage, opening the show with “Lazy Days", an immediate crowd pleaser.
The first half of the show consisted of the entirety of his first album, Life Thru a Lens.
This gave a nostalgic theme as he performed classics such as “Old Before I Die, Clean”, and the title track of his debut album, “Life Thru a Lens”.
His classic hit “Angels” created a harmonious vibe, as Robbie stayed silent throughout the first half of the song, allowing the audience to sing to him.
The intimate size of the venue made this an emotional part of the show, giving the feeling of connection through how much Robbie’s music means to his fans.
After a short intermission, Williams performed his new album, Britpop. Opening with “Rocket”, he maintained the same level of showmanship, giving an electric atmosphere.
Crowd favourites from Britpop such as “Morrissey” and “It’s Okay Until the Drugs Stop Working” went down well, creating an electric atmosphere.
Williams surprised fans by releasing the album three weeks earlier than planned, with the album becoming his 16th number one, beating the record set by The Beatles.
From leaving Take That in the 90s, Williams has made a name for himself as the “King of Entertainment”, with hits such as “Angels” and “Let Me Entertain You” making him a legend in the music industry.
The album was released to commemorate Williams’s career in entertainment, with him describing Britpop as the “album he wanted to release after leaving Take That.”
To celebrate his three-decade career in entertainment, Williams will be performing his albums Life Thru a Lens and Britpop in full throughout the tour.
Overall, the intimate venue and Williams’ iconic showmanship made for an unforgettable night.
The way he still maintains his ability to captivate an audience proves that Robbie Williams is and always will be the “King of Entertainment”.
