Conflict, Crash and Survival: ‘Send Help’ film review

Sami Raimi’s spectacular 2026 film ‘Send Help’ is a genre-blending take on a survival horror movie, it also involves elements of comedy, adventure and strong relationships.
The female lead Linda Liddel (Rachel McAdams) is a corporate strategist who is praised for her work with numbers, Linda has dreams to be on ‘Survivor’ as she is very resourceful and is skilled in survival. The movies male lead Bradely Preston (Dylan O’Brien) is the new company CEO who continuously makes Linda feel belittled, he is portrayed as very arrogant throughout scenes. This film follows Linda and Bradley, the two coworkers through their time stranded on a deserted island, showing the dynamics before, how they end up there and the troubles and the highs throughout.
The plot of ‘Send Help’ revolves around the survival of the two main characters, who are the only two survivors of a plane crash on desert island. The action develops as they now must rely on each other for survival after not getting along before. The film is a great watch for lovers of thriller movies, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats and due to the unexpected twists.
The two main actors do a great job at making the watching experience enjoyable. Rachel McAdams – known for her diverse acting skills but most famously for her roles in ‘Mean Girls’ and ‘The Notebook’ brings a feel of fearlessness to the film with her amazing portrayal of Lindas survival skills. Dylan O’Brien – known for his role in ‘The maze runner’ brings a thought-provoking feel to the film making it relatable in many senses.

At the beginning of this film many may think it is just another enemy to lover’s storyline, but after watching the realisation that it’s not at all what you thought is fascinating. The cinematography in the film helps to push dynamics further for example, when Linda and Bradley are in a disagreement the desert island will be flooding with rain and thunder storming.
The director of this film Sami Raimi usually directs movies with lots of action, relationship dynamics cinematography specific to certain moments such as his direction of the original spiderman trilogy. This film can also shock people in a way that isn’t enjoyable as it can catch people off guard that this movie is a horror type if you haven’t watched the Trailor first. Overall, ‘Send Help’ is a thrilling watch for lovers of almost every genre of movie as there is so many different aspects in the film.
‘Send Help’ has been out in Vue cinemas since February 6th and is set to be released onto multiple streaming platforms such as Netflix, Prime video and Disney+ by late April 2026.
