The hit reality TV show "Married at First sight" will no longer be shown on TV following rape allegations.
Three women that starred on the Channel 4 tv show 'Married at First Sight' made allegations against their on-screen partners during the show. Two unidentified women claim their partners raped them, one of which was allegedly threated with an acid attack.
Shona Manderson, the only woman identified, claims her on-screen partner, Bradley Skelly, committed sexual misconduct, why filming the show. Shona accused the show of not doing enough to protect herself and the other women that were affected.
An Ofcom spokesperson from the BBC said: "Under our rules, broadcasters are required to take due care over the welfare of people who might be at risk of significant harm as a result of taking part in a programme."
Although Channel 4 was made aware of these allegations and continued filming the show, not long after they then removed all the episode starring the affected women and deleted them from streaming platforms.
Bradley and Shona were advised to leave the show following their toxic relationship during filming, primarily due to Brad's language towards Shona and fans saying he is "gaslighting" her.
The investigation into these allegations began in May and are ongoing as the men involved continue to deny them. However, a male cast member was arrested on suspicion of rape.
Priya Dogra, the broadcaster's chief executive, didn't initially apologise to the women for what they had experienced. Two days later, she publicly apologised to the women, telling reporters she's "deeply sorry" for their distress.
Dogra said: "It is for other people to look into allegations that the women have made, our job is to look at allegations of a duty of care failure. That's the distinction between the two."
