New Night bus Hubs help party people home
Night Bus hubs will be available in three locations in Glasgow

A new bus scheme will start tomorrow to make late-night travel easier for people leaving Glasgow City Centre, giving people another option for getting home after a night out or a late shift.
People travelling home late at night in Glasgow will be able to use three new Night Bus Hubs from Friday, October 23.
Glasgow City Council is introducing the hubs at The Garage on Sauchiehall Street; the former Watt Brothers building on Hope Street; and the southern end of Union Street. They will operate from midnight until 4am on Fridays and Saturdays.
The scheme is designed to make night buses easier to find and give people an alternative to taxis and private hire cars, particularly during busy weekend nights.
The existing bus stops will have dedicated signs, with CCTV coverage and marshals available to help passengers feel more comfortable while waiting for their bus.
For people who regularly travel home late, the scheme could make a difference to how they plan their journeys.
Liam, 19, from Darvel, said: “It will be good for the city’s nightlife as more people will be able to go because they will be able to have a more affordable and practical way home.”
Jade, 19, from Cumbernauld, said: “It can be a nightmare getting a taxi home on a Friday night, so having another option would be helpful.”
Lorna, 33, from Stirling, said: “That’s great, I didn’t know they were doing that. I’m glad they’re trying to make getting home easier, especially for people finishing work in the early hours.”
The project has been developed Glasgow’s City Centre Taskforce, involving Glasgow City Council, Let’s Go Glasgow, First Bus and McGill’s Group.
There are currently 10-night bus services operating from the city centre.
First bus commercial manager, Ryan Sorley, said: “Night services are included in the £2 fare cap, while under-22s and concessionary pass holders can travel free.”
Existing bus routes will remain unchanged, meaning passengers can continue using their usual stops.
