Spring into Summer

Throughout the year we see many trends come and go, but what will be the hottest this summer?

Pastels

Throughout Spring we’ve been seeing pastels on our feeds, with a focus on a buttery yellow, perfect for being in tune with the warm weather. Baby pink has also been popular as of late, whether it be in silky maxi skirts, linen trousers and even hair accessories. Baby blue is also a keen choice, especially when it comes to flowy summer dresses. Pastels are definitely here to stay this summer, as we are now entering a more toned-down era, compared to a red, leopard print and gingham last summer.

Accessorising is IN!

Due to the rise in popularity in bag charms such as Labubus, we are seeing more and more people with charms on their bags. We arent unfamiliar with this, as a couple of years back we saw the rise in “birkinifying” our bags, adding beads, ribbons and charms onto our handbags, based on Jane Birkins iconic style. this summer we are definitely seeing more people adding unique touches to their bag, crafting their own unique style while dabbling in the odd trend here and there.

Stripes and Polka Dots

Patterns such as spots have been plaguing our feeds- and i’m not bothered by it. A classic black and white polka dot pattern is becoming a staple in our wardrobes, as we are leaning into more traditional styles and silhouettes. Flowy 1950s-esque dresses are becoming a vacation staple, for its versatility between dressing it up and dressing it down. Stripes, forever timeless, yet a stripy cami is a perfect basic piece for when you are feeling chic but want to have that effortless look.

Linen

Big last year, big this year. Popular for its breathability in hot weather, linen is sought after as it creates a sleek silhouette whilst allowing comfort. White linen is most popular, but as mentioned previously, pastels are creeping in. Linen co-ord sets are popping up, perfect for a summer's night when you’re on holiday. Linen also ties in with neither popular item, capris. Love them or hate them, they are here to stay. Artists such as Clairo have emphasised their popularity as styling them as a traditional piece with a modern twist.

Ruffles and Raras

The 2000s have BEEN back, and don’t seem to be going anywhere. Rara skirts have taken over my ‘for you page’, with influences promoting the cute and flirty silhouette of the ruffled skirt. Flowyness seems to be a big part of this summer, with these skirts allowing more freedom than your typical mini skirt, maintaining style. However, ruffles aren’t limited to just bottoms. We’ve seen a resurgence in formal wear, silky blouses and chiffon tops with a waterfall like ruffle detail down the middle are gaining in popularity for this year, giving off an indie sleaze -festival vibe.
