Warriors Make Changes to Their Squad for Next Season

With the rugby season about to end, the Glasgow Warriors will have to change about their squad, due to the exit of Rob Harley, who has played for the club for 12 years. With 260 matches with the Warriors under his belt, he has decided it is time for him to say goodbye.

Harley made his debut with the Warriors in 2010 against Leinster, he surpassed the previous record held by Graeme Morrison when he made his 178th appearance in February 2018. To add to Rob Harley’s accomplishments, he also has 23 Scotland caps to his name. Rob Harley said: “A huge chunk of my life has been with Glasgow Warriors, and it’s been an amazing experience, there are so many memories, winning the [2015 Pro12] title was hugely special, but it’s hard to pick just one, having played with so many great teams. I’m looking forward to coming back to Scotstoun [Stadium] one day as a fan and standing with the fans who have been so good with me over the years, cheering the team on from the stands. For now, though, I’m looking forward to finishing my Glasgow career on a high, but also excited about the next step of my playing journey and experiencing something different, wherever that may be”.

Head coach Danny Wilson added on Glasgow’s website: “Harley is an outstanding professional whose service to this club is second to none”.

However, Glasgow Warriors can confirm the signing of Jamie Bhatti as he signs a new deal with the club. After spells at Edinburgh and Bath the loosehead prop has settled with the Warriors.

The 28-year-old said: “As soon as I got the offer, that was it – I knew it was the right deal for me, I’ve loved being back at Scotstoun, and I’ve got a great relationship with the coaches. They back me to go out there and play well, and I’m really enjoying my rugby. Glasgow feels like home for me. I first moved here in 2016, and to be part of the story of this club is a real privilege. I love where I live out in the East End, I love where I play my rugby,

“ It’s just the perfect fit for me. We’re in a good place in the league right now and we want to kick on and secure our place in the knockout stages. We’ve had a bit of adversity this season, but every time we’ve slipped up, we’ve bounced back and our position in the league is testament to that. It’s also a testament to the squad and the coaching group, and it’s a good environment right now. I want to be the best player for this club that I can be, and I want to win silverware with this team. We fell just short in 2019 before I left, so for me getting a winner’s medal with Glasgow is top of my list.”

Danny Wilson said: “Jamie is hugely passionate about playing for Glasgow Warriors and we’re pleased to secure his services for the seasons to come.”

So, with an attacking forward leaving and a loosehead prop ready to start. Danny Wilson has a lot to change if he wishes to improve next season.
