Home - Ailey Parsons - Scotland
My sister, Ailey Parsons, 21, has to travel 30 miles to work every day to make a living.
Ailey said: “As a young adult who’s passionate about the future of our climate, I get guilty when driving to work.”
“I’m always thinking of switching to electric cars but they’re way too expensive.”
Gas emissions from transport are the highest they’ve ever been and this is one of the biggest problems that we face in the tough battle against global warming.
Ailey added: “I do have hope for this issue though, with the UK Government planning to ban the purchase of petrol/diesel vehicles after 2035.”
Away - Sophie Milton - formerly lived in Calgary Canada
My Cousin, Sophie Milton, 29, Lived in Calgary, Canada, for a large portion of her life.
She said: “When I was back in Canada, there weren’t many ways of travelling in an eco-friendly way. Now though, the government encourages the public to use bikes all the time.”
The cycling department in Calgary is always improving its network. It encourages the public to cycle, which reduces gas emissions. It’s also a healthy alternative as well.”
Calgary has e-bikes all over the city, with prices costing as little as $1 to unlock a bike and a $0.30 charge for every minute you spend on it.
