Glasgow City Council have approved the sale of two large land sites to make way for 400 new and affordable houses.
At a meeting of the Contracts and Property Committee this week they agreed the land would be transformed into a major residential project of “approximately 400 affordable houses for rent.” The plans also include a new community hub. The council expects to receive a payment of £983,500 from the sale to Wheatley Housing Group who will build the homes.
Drumry Primary School at Abbotshall Avenue in Glasgow will be demolished by Wheatley Housing Group Limited and will be replaced with 33 houses and 48 flats for rent. The guaranteed lowest sale price is £324,000.

Councillors have also granted a 25-year lease of Ashford Park in Knightswood to the Knightswood Football Club Scottish Charity Incorporated Organisation through the People Make Glasgow Communities programme. Ashford Park, which includes an 11-a-side pitch, has been without a direct owner since 2022. The community-led club, founded in 1974, plans to reopen the facility for use by the local teams and local community groups.
Councillor Ruari Kelly, Convener for Housing, said that: “The decisions would help address all the housing needs while bringing a valued and wanted community asset back into use and generating funds to support public services.
“The lease of Ashford Park will allow a local football club to bring new life to a key community asset that can now once again be used by many clubs and teams.”
