As we all know, the Democrats have won the most votes in the midterm election. President Trump, 80, has been left planning something drastic after his contradictory statements. He said that a reason the republicans lost is that he "Wasn't on the ballot!" But then told a rally in Sioux City, Iowa: "I'm on the ballot," on October 22. He repeated this latter statement to multiple other news reporters.
The future of America in Trump's eyes includes restricting immigration, imports, reducing climate-protection policies and limiting overall affairs involving other countries. Other conditions will include stricter identification requirements when voting, as well as further restrictions on "reproductive rights, religious freedom and LGBTQ+ protections," according to Politicsrights.com.
So how could this affect the UK? Well, US politics has influenced the UK since around 1776, when Thomas Jefferson declared independence in America. The two countries' tight-knit relationship over the past few decades still affects us today. Examples include when the previous prime minister, Keir Starmer, was choosing between the EU and the US, though he claims that scenario did not and will not happen. He had also said that the UK will "never turn away" from America.
The midterm election loss will affect the UK through increased tariffs, changes in finances and the rights of the public. Changes are already being shaped, from anti-immigration to trans rights. These new laws and regulations were put into place during Starmer's time in office, but the laws remain in place through Burnham's term.
Trump's rule will affect your future; it will affect everyone in the world. America is the most powerful country in the world, with an unmatched military. Trump can change the world; he has already started to.
