Charlie Kirk, a close ally and friend of President Trump, has been shot dead at the age of 31.
Kirk was kicking off his new “The American Comeback Tour” when he was fatally shot in the neck at Utah Valley University. He was quickly taken from the scene to a local hospital where doctors fought, unsuccessfully, to save his life.
Eyewitnesses at the scene describe hearing one shot and then seeing Kirk fall back over the table on stage. His team tried to lend aid, as the panicked crowd scattered.
Donald Trump announced Kirk’s death at 4:40pm (PDT) only two hours after the shooting and ordered flags be lowered to half-mast at 6pm.

FBI Director, Kash Patel, offered Utah the services of the FBI upon hearing the news of Kirk’s death.
World leaders also released statements of condolences with Joe Biden stating, “There is no place in our country for this kind of violence. It must end now. Jill and I are praying for Charlie Kirk’s family and loved ones.”
The controversial figure rose to fame touring America with the Turning Point USA Organisation and engaging college students in his infamous “Prove me wrong” debates.
His colleague at Turning Point USA, Candace Owens, simply stated that she “couldn’t process this” in a social media post.
Senator, Lindsey Graham, posted a statement calling the shooting a “sick and despicable attack”. Speaker, Mike Johnson, later paused the house in the middle of votes and called for a minute of silence in Kirk’s memory.
The shooter is still unknown as Utah Police released a statement saying they only had a “person of interest” in custody and no suspects. They also stated that the shot was taken from a rooftop overseeing the quad where Kirk was speaking at the time of the shooting.
“This is a dark day for our state, it’s a tragic day for our nation.” Stated Utah’s Governor, Spencer Cox who went on to say, “I want to be very clear that this was a political assassination.”
Kirk leaves behind his wife, 36-year-old Erika Lane Frantzve, and their two infant children.
