Rangers F.C are looking to finalise a deal to appoint former Real Madrid assistant Davide Ancelotti as their new head coach.
This comes alongside rumours of an imminent takeover announcement led by American businessman Andrew Cavenagh and backed by the 49ers Enterprises led by Paraag Marathe.
Who is Ancelotti Jr.?
The 35-year-old has been the right hand to his father the famous ‘Don’ Carlo Ancelotti. First in 2016 at Bayern Munich then Napoli, Everton and most recently Real Madrid.
Davide had a short career as a professional footballer with spells at AC Milan and Borgomanero despite not playing in any games. This resulted in Ancelotti studying for his UEFA coaching badges.
He achieved his UEFA A License in 2016 followed by his UEFA Pro License in July 2023, finishing top of his class.

Since being his father’s assistant, he’s been described as his father’s ‘secret weapon’ and the mastermind behind the scenes by Madrid fans. Davide is known to take all the training sessions for Los Blancos.
This ‘secret weapon’ claim was backed up by last season’s Champions League match between Real Madrid and Bayern Munich at the Bernabeu stadium.
Ancelotti Sr. was being pestered by his son to bring on Spanish striker Joselu while Madrid was 0-1 down.
After the ‘Don’ brought Joselu on, he scored in the 88th and 91st minutes taking the team to the Champions League final. They then went on to beat German side Borussia Dortmund 2-0 in the final.
Davide now looks to step out of his father’s shadow. It is reported that he will bring another former Madrid coach Francesco Mauri to help create his own legacy in Glasgow.
