Extreme wrestling has always been a niche favourite in sports entertainment, especially in Scotland. The independent wrestling circuit has never shied away from pushing the limits on what violence is acceptable to show an audience. Whether it is blood, broken tables or barbed wire; Valor is willing to bare all to entertain its viewership.

On Sunday, November 16, Valor graced the Glasgow favourite Grand Ole Opry in spectacular fashion. A spot famous for offering classes in line dancing, was used to teach a lesson in extreme brutality. Wrestling talents such as UEWA European Heavyweight Champion BT Gunn; Lou King Sharp, Chris Renfrew and even ECW legend Pitbull Gary Wolfe were all in attendance to perform. As well as many other talented wrestlers. The recording of this event will air on December 5 at 10:00pm on the Extreme Sports Channel. For the results, tune in then.

The Fatal Four Way opened the show in spectacular fashion, with each performer displaying high-octane pace from the onset. Neither one giving way to allow a single man to take full control of the bout. Despite the tendency for a match of this type to be messy, each move and attack flowed well into the next. It was controlled; the acrobatics and athleticism displayed left viewers in awe.

When Tommy Lockhart answered Frank of the Cross’ open challenge, the match quickly erupted into the audience and surrounding arena. Each man displayed a steel endurance as they slammed one another into sound equipment and other electronics in an effort to hurt each other. The security urged the audience as each men threw each other across where I was sitting; with Tommy Lockhart landing a few feet away from me.

The seasoned veteran wrestler Krobar faced off against the ECW legend Pitbull Gary Wolfe in a Dog Collar Match. Both were collared and connected to each other by a short chain. With no escape for either of them, they engaged in a creative tangle. The chain was used to choke and pull as they grappled and slammed each other across the ring.

The main event of the night was the Barbed Wire Roped Taipei Deathmatch, which sees both wrestler’s hands taped and dipped in glue and crushed glass. To make things more brutal, the ropes are wrapped in barbed wire, and all manner of barbed weapons are left at their feet. It quickly erupted into a brutal frenzy of extreme violence as both men were bloodied from the onset. Every sharp instrument was used in a wild display of brutal entertainment. It was the epitome of extreme wrestling.

The event was an enjoyable experience full of high energy, high impact wrestling. Everyone displayed veteran level talent and showed that independent wrestling is still a strong contender against large wrestling entertainment brands.
