Man in hospital after being hit by bus

Ambulances were called to Stirling Road in Glasgow City Centre, after a single decker bus struck a pedestrian at 1:40pm yesterday.

Police set up a cordon closing Stirling Road to traffic following the accident as they investigated the incident then waited for bus to be removed.

All traffic Eastbound out of the city centre was diverted from Stirling Road to Cathedral Street following the police cordon.

Police at the scene said: “The incident involved a male pedestrian and a vehicle. He has been taken to The Royal Infirmary.”

Police could not comment further as it was an ongoing incident.

The victim’s condition is currently unknown.

The single decker bus suffered severe damage to its window and bumper due to the accident.

Six police officers remained at the scene along with two Stagecoach staff, who sat inside the bus, until the vehicle was recovered and removed from the scene later that night.

A Stagecoach South Scotland spokesperson said: “We can confirm one of our vehicles was involved in an incident on Stirling Road today.

“Our first thoughts are for the welfare of those affected by the incident. Safety is our absolute priority and we will carry out a full investigation into the circumstances, as well as assisting police with their inquiries.”

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received an incident at Stirling Road, at the corner of Cathedral Street, and dispatched two ambulances to the scene. We transported one male patient to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1:40pm on Wednesday, 12 November 2025, we were called to a collision involving a bus and a pedestrian on Cathedral Street in Glasgow.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”

Stirling Road re-opened to the public this morning.
