A restaurant located in Bothwell Main Street has been the victim of yet another blaze in Lanarkshire.
Nel & Co, a steakhouse restaurant, which is a popular choice for locals has been shut down after being badly damaged following a petrol bomb attack.
It is yet another attack on the Main Street after sister restaurant Cut Bothwell Steakhouse was attacked last month
Bothwell is starting to become known for these attacks with this being the fourth attack that has taken place over the past few years.
A police statement read: “Emergency services attended and there were no reports of any injuries. The fire is being treated as wilful and enquires are ongoing.”
Locals are becoming increasingly wary over these attacks and worried for their own safety. The Steakhouse is connected to houses which could be involved and cause life changing damage.
A couple years ago, San Vincenzo restaurant, which was in the building next to Nel & Co was also firebombed. The building was attacked three times in a couple months. The owner who believed he was the target of a “London-based hitman” eventually closed the business in 2022.
This latest incident has caused panic amongst workers who woke up to the news that their workplace was set on fire are now without work for the time being. Workers are already looking for new jobs as uncertainty grows as to what the future holds for the Steakhouse.
It is still unclear the motive behind the attacks and Police Scotland reassured the public that they are working tirelessly to find the culprits.
