Deja vu for the Dons: Who's going to replace Barry Robson?

After just nine months as manager of Aberdeen, Barry Robson has been sacked as Aberdeen manager. Robson was appointed in the summer after an impressive spell as caretaker boss. His assistant, Steve Agnew, departed Pittodrie alongside him.

This makes it Aberdeen’s fourth manager in three years, which leaves fans to question the stability of the club.

Boos could be heard on Tuesday night following the Dons’ 1-1 draw to Dundee at home. Fans could also be heard chanting “We want Robson out”.

The club described being in eighth place as “unacceptable.”

According to BetVictor, ex-Celtic manager Neil Lennon currently stands at 5/1. The five-time Scottish Premiership champion was last in the dugout at Omonia Nicosia in Cyprus.

Legendary manager Neil Warnock is the current favourite with a 6/1 odds. Warnock has a reputation for putting teams back on track throughout his career. The 75-year-old was most recently in charge at Huddersfield Town.

Alex Neil is third in line with odds currently at 8/1 who was most recently at Stoke City, having had previous jobs at Hamilton Academical, Norwich City, Preston North End and Sunderland.

Other candidates include former Ireland national team manager Stephen Kenny at 12/1, current Dundee manager Tony Docherty at 12/1.

Shockingly, former Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is at 16/1. Scotland manager Steve Clarke is also a name mentioned with the Aberdeen job currently placed at 16/1 by BetVictor.

BetVictor currently has former Ross County manager Malky Mackay at 25/1 as another option for Aberdeen.

The Aberdeen club statement said: “It’s important we thank Barry for his significant contribution to Aberdeen as a player, a coach and manager. He’s a good man who worked extremely hard in everything he did for us, and it goes without saying that we wish him, and Steve, our very best.”
